Bring on the Summer Fun: Day Trips That Will Guarantee a Good Time for Your Kids

July 17, 2018

Blue Bell Creamery in Brenham- The perfect distance from The Woodlands for a quick road trip with your kiddos.  A visit to one of three Blue Bell factories in the USA should definitely be on your summer to-do list.  Your visit will include free admission to a quick museum sharing the history of the beloved ice cream brand (and can you believe they even started their company as a butter company?), an opportunity to explore an observation deck of how the ice cream is actually made, and access to $1 ice cream scoops of some favorite flavors.  You will even get to taste the milk and cookies flavor that is NOT sold in stores! Don’t forget to stop by the gift shop for a fun t-shirt or coozie to commemorate your visit.

Kemah Boardwalk- Do you want to take your kids somewhere special with attractions and food but do not want to travel to a large amusement park?  Kemah is the place for you! Kemah offers amazing attractions and rides for the kids and shopping and dining for adults, the ultimate best of both worlds and pleasing for everyone!  If you happen to plan your trip for a Friday there is even a summer fireworks show every Friday in June and July that you won’t want to miss.

Houston Children’s Museum- Come and bring the whole family to this amazing hands on museum.  Amazing for toddlers through pre-teens, kids will get to explore many engaging and interactive exhibits including the Tot Spot, the Bubble Lab, and the City Hall where kids can pretend to be grown ups.  A small admission fee applies unless you venture on Thursday afternoon where admission is free.

Splashway Water Park in Sheridan- Your family can enjoy swimming, fishing, arts and crafts, s’mores and so much more! The little ones will never forget the memories made when they meet “Ray”, our sun shining mascot. Relax under a private cabana and bring your picnic in the waterpark, your own meats to grill, or satisfy the family with juicy burgers, delicious nachos, and cravable funnel cakes from our cafes. Tubes and parking are free. Lifeguards are on duty to protect your precious cargo and if you forget your floaties, no worries!  Life jackets are provided for everyone. This is sure to be a day trip you don’t want to miss this summer.

Wacky Waco- Waco has so many educational places to visit and see with your children.  Waco Mammoth National Park sits within the wooded areas of the Bosque river.  This gorgeous area is surrounded by mesquite, cedar, and oak trees.  This intriguing park offers us a glimpse into the past by showing us the lives of mammoths and other Ice Age animals.   After visiting this fascinating park, stop by the Dr. Pepper Museum.  It features original Dr. Pepper factory machinery, fun facts about how Dr. Pepper has evolved through the years, and your daily admission rate includes a fresh Dr. Pepper soda straight from the soda fountain.  This museum is a must-see place while visiting Waco and makes it the perfect end to a day trip.
